My Culinary Journey

Hello folks my name is Eric Drexler. I am currently working on my site so please bear with me. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and how I became passionate about culture, travel and foremost indigenous cuisines from around the world. I have been in the culinary field since 1985. I started mucking around various restaurants at a young age but it wasn't until my first trip out of the country (Costa Rica '91) that I fully understood the direction my life would go. I am an avid bodyboarder and traveling in search of waves was what led me to seeing the world. The very first taste of fresh fruit, the heat of the sun and the saltiness of the air got me hooked immediately. The way such simple dishes tasted so vibrant and flavorful was my catalyst. Since that first journey I have been to various Latin countries (Mexico, Ecuador, Panama, Nicaragua and Costa Rica), West Australia, (head chef of a wine bar), Bali, Thailand, South Korea and the Caribbean (Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic). I also have frequented the Bay area of San Francisco, New Mexico and various domestic locales gathering ideas, information, working and mostly eating. I love ethnic cuisines and through my dishes you will be able to tell. I always say, "learn from a grandmother, because the root to indigenous cuisine starts there." So with that being said please enjoy the site and the sights of my journeys. Check out the blog page for past travels, new ideas and overall good fun that has been part of what has made me, me. Please inquire with me to make your next party, event or meal a truly one of a kind unique experience for you and your guests.

I travel not only because I love it, but because I am on the search for local fare I can use to create fresh, vibrant, flavorful dishes that bring a smile to the face. I love to learn and the best that have inspired my culinary imagination are those from Grandmothers/Mothers of locals stateside and abroad. I love traveling to new places and visiting creameries, farmer's markets and hole in the wall authentic foods in search of the freshest, local fare I can get my hands on.

I am ready to bring my creative mind to your table whether it is a family celebration, a big day, a table for two, a table for 24, whatever it may be -- I am your Chef. You can take a look at some sample menus I have thrown together with the button below. I prefer to center your menu around the freshest ingredients depending on time of year and what I can get my hands on but thought this would help to see some of my work of art that I have delivered in the past.
